H&L Mobile Veterinary Services brings full-service veterinary care directly to homes across Southern Pennsylvania. Dr. Sophia Leone, DVM, built this practice on a simple idea: that pets receive better care when they are calm, and they are calmest at home. Get to Know
Dr. Sophia Leone, DVM

Emergency-trained, preventative care-focused,
and a PA local since 2020.

Dr. Sophia Leone grew up in Arizona and went on to earn her undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science with honors from The University of Arizona, alongside a minor in Business Administration. She then completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University, one of the country's top-ranked veterinary programs.

Her early career began in commercial swine medicine in Pennsylvania, before she transitioned into small animal practice through vaccine clinics and general and emergency care. That emergency background remains central to how she practices today. She occasionaly works relief shifts at a local veterinary emergency hospital, and brings that same clinical depth to every home visit.

Dr. Leone has called Carlisle home since relocating there following graduation. H&L is now based in Carlisle, which serves as the hub for all eight counties in the practice's service area. She shares her home with two dogs, three cats, and a cockatiel, and fosters animals in need when the opportunity arises.

Meet Cailey, CVT

Hi! My name is Cailey. I'm a licensed veterinary technician with 4 years experience in emergency veterinary medicine before joining the H&L team in June, 2026. I am dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to every patient, and I enjoy building lasting relationships with both pets and their families.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and our two pets (we have a golden retriever named Tig and a cat named Teddy!). In my free time you'll often find me horseback riding or behind a camera, as I am also a photographer. I feel fortunate to be able to combine my love for animals with a career that allows me to make a difference every day!

Why Pet Owners in Southern Pennsylvania Choose H&L Mobile Veterinary Care

For many pets, the hardest part of a vet visit is getting there. The car ride, the waiting room, and the unfamiliar smells and sounds of a clinic environment can cause significant stress before an exam even begins. Mobile veterinary care eliminates those barriers entirely.

When Dr. Leone arrives at your home, your pet is already in the environment where they feel most comfortable. That means calmer patients, more accurate assessments, and a better experience for the whole family! For senior pets, animals with mobility limitations, multi-pet households, and owners without reliable transportation, in-home care is the best way to keep your pets healthy.

We use a fear free approach for treatment, often utilizing things like helmets for factitious cats and peanut butter for nervous dogs. Our team handles your pets comfort with extensive care and consideration.

Relaxed Tabby Cat

Comprehensive Care Delivered Across Eight Pennsylvania Counties

H&L provides a full range of services for cats and dogs at every life stage. That includes wellness and preventative care, vaccinations, diagnostics, sick patient visits, treatments, senior care, pain management, quality of life consultations, hospice and palliative care, and end-of-life services. Routine add-ons like nail trims, ear cleanings, and microchipping are available during any appointment.

We also have full pharmaceutical capabilities while on-site. Injectable medications, oral medications, preventatives — available and administered at time of visit.

Medications not dispensed on-site are fulfilled through H&L's online pharmacy with direct-to-home shipping.

The practice currently serves Cumberland, Adams, Lancaster, York, Perry, Lebanon, Franklin, and Dauphin Counties. House call fees are $115 for the first 25 miles from Carlisle, with a mileage rate of $2.75 per mile beyond that.

Compassion at Every Stage of Your Pet's Life

Every visit is guided by the same commitment: give the pet what they need, explain everything to the owner, and make the experience as low-stress as possible for everyone involved. Whether that means a routine wellness check for a healthy puppy, a sick visit for a cat who stopped eating, or end-of-life support for a senior dog whose family needs guidance, H&L shows up for every stage.

Dr. Leone's background in emergency medicine means she does not just treat what is in front of her. She thinks ahead. Preventative care, early detection, and client education are woven into every appointment because the goal is always a longer, healthier life for your pet.
